Is There Value to Aspirin Cancer Prevention?

Not too long ago, my dad was felled by cancer, and it made me wonder why I had not selected to take medical studies before. Since we have nothing that can really stop cancer in its tracks, though, I might not have been capable of doing much even then. The possibilities of aspirin cancer prevention are being researched at the moment, though, and that is good news.

Aspirin is now being researched as a possible solution to our cancer woes in the sense that it can help the body stifle its development. The low costs of aspirin and the ease with which one may buy it makes it a fantastic preventive possibility for people's health, then. I wonder if this would have extended my parent's life back then, since the reason he never took on preventive treatment wa that he feared its pain.

That having been noted, it must be mentioned too that the drug is not able to remove cancer and can only help you avoid its onset. In the studies, the people who took the prescribed amounts of aspirin by the scientists had fewer among them who developed cancer. For those who are already inflicted, aspirin can slow down metastasis.

According to the researchers, one cancer may react quite variably from another when exposed to the substance. Prevention was more effective in certain cancers, such as colon cancer. The type that my dad suffered from was cancer of the colon.

Esophageal strains and colorectal ones were very strongly limited too, according to scientists. An expert involved in the studies noted that it would thus be wise to start considering aspirin as a preventative for cancer. Those who endorse the drug as a potential cancer-preventor say, however, that even more studies have to be conducted before anything final is said and that people should watch how much of the drug they do consume.

Untrammelled use of aspirin could well result to negative consequences, of course. Internal bleeding may be a consequence of overdoing your aspirin consumption, for instance. The lethal nature of these potential overdose results should warn you not to take too much of the drug.

A lot of doctors are still reserving opinions about aspirin as a regularly-taken preventive measure. A few studies in the US indicate, after all, that there was no connection between aspirin consumption and lower cancer possibilities. Nonetheless, people from the other side of the fence argue that we can hardly trust these researchers given that they did not provide aspirin as a daily dose (as the researchers from the other side did).

That said, some people wonder if the research from the other side of the fence can be trusted considering it was originally intended to be about aspirin's ability to lower cardiac risks. People with cardiac difficulties are often prescribed baby aspirin. Cancerous cells are quite another matter, though.

Some of the people in the field opt to take a more sensible view of the findings, saying they have promise and need to be continued for further certainty. There are people like the CMO of the American Cancer Society, who has indicated his belief that the researchers could be coming close to something very useful, yet has not indicated support for aspirin as a preventive drug at the moment. There are a lot of other people who simply talk about it as promising and not yet confirmed.

I myself did not go to medical school, so I am not well-versed in these things. This does not change the fact of my loss, and the fact that I am hopeful about the experts being able to find ways to save others from cancer. I hope that with time and more research on aspirin cancer will become less common.
